Fashion Rules We Break (On Purpose)

Fashion Rules We Break (On Purpose)

Published July 21, 2025

There are a lot of “rules” in fashion.
Most of them? We ignore.

Here are some we break regularly — and honestly, it’s probably why the outfits hit:

Don’t wear black with brown.
Yes, you can. Yes, it looks good.
Whoever made this rule clearly never wore a black tee with camel pants and a leather bag. Neutrals are friends.

Don’t dress up for errands.
The grocery store has mirrors. Target has lighting.
That’s a red carpet in our book.
We’ve absolutely worn a cute tee, trousers, and hoops to buy dish soap — and got compliments in aisle 7.

Dress for your age.
What does that even mean?
If you love it, wear it. If you feel good in it, wear it again. That’s the only rule we follow.

You can’t mix casual and dressy pieces.
Watch us pair cargo pants with heels and not apologize once.
That unexpected combo? That’s style!

Don’t mix textures.
Actually… do.
Try a silky top with lived-in denim. Or a structured blazer with a soft-washed tee.
It’s like putting crunchy chips on a soft sandwich — trust the combo.

Everything has to match.
Says who?
Some of the best outfits don’t match — they just click.
It’s not about wearing the same tones or sticking to one palette.
It’s about pieces that balance each other, challenge each other, or bring out something unexpected.
Think a sharp blazer over a soft tee. A structured bag with worn-in denim.
Not matching — just meant to be.

Style isn’t about following rules — it’s about finding what works for you.
